Que the music!  We’re headed out with our one way ticket in three short weeks.  HOLY SHOOT! So this post maybe boring, honestly, I will be proud of you if you make it through with out snoozing.  Seriously, is there anything exciting about packing and saying goodbye (actually I’m calling it “I’ll see you later” because I’m coming home).

The movers are scheduled to come next week to pack up and take our stuff off for it’s journey to Japan.  Which means that I only have a few days to get it together.  Something many of you may or may not know about me is that I’m a procrastinator and so is my husband.  Lets get real for a second, if I don’t have pressure put on me it’s not getting done until absolutely necessary.  Typical, John and Nicole fashion.  I promise that my stuff will be ready for shipping by next week (swear)!

In the mean time I’ve spent my recent days frivolously thinking of things that I absolutely cannot live without while in Japan, such as deodorant.  Ok, ok they have deodorant in Japan but I’m not sure of it effectiveness and summers are hot, things could get real…and smelly.  So because of that I made a huge purchase on Amazon of all necessary items I could think of.  Lets make a list:

1. Deodorant: see above
2. Shampoo: I’m not that particular but I have my preferences and until I find something that I like, bulk shampoo is where it’s at. Also, I need to try and preserve my highlights for as long as possible.  Want Ad: English speaking Japanese hairstylist needed!!!!
3. Toothpaste: I’m not about to have dental work done while I’m over there.  I don’t even like going to the dentist in the States, let alone in another country
4. Burts Bees: Ok so I never discriminate against chap sticks, but John is very particular when it comes to his lips (haha).  Seriously, the man refuses to use anything but.  Therefore, 8 sticks of Burts Bees are headed our way (Thanks Amazon!)
5. Clothes: I will say that this move to Japan has given me the best excuse to update my wardrobe.  I’d like to thank Toyota for this opportunity and excuse!  For real though, it might be somewhat a challenge to find things that fit both John and I over there.  So I’ve taken to updating both our closets. You’re welcome, John!
6. Shoes: Mostly, for John not me…he has big feet (TMI? jk jk)

Honestly, I’m sure there is a ton of other things that I cannot think of and will get there and be SOL.  Thankfully, there is Costco and Amazon in Japan.  Also, to save face and make sure that all of you don’t think that I’m super materialistic I have faith I will find most of these items over there and it will be just fine.

In other news, I haven’t talked about my cats in awhile.  Sergeant and General are totally excited to spend 14 hours, in a carrier, on a plane to the other side of the world.  Really, they are (not).  The cats just don’t even know what’s up.  We are working hard to get them used to their carriers and finalizing all the details.  Our last trip to the vet and USDA is in two weeks and they will be all set for their travels.  In the mean time I’ve been planning for their epic adventure.  By planning I mean purchasing all necessary items that a cat may need on a flight to the other side of the world.  Believe it or not there are entire websites dedicated to this stuff (shout out to Dry Fur, there for all your pet travel needs).  Any who I purchased items such as food and water containers, litter box, pee pads, a leash, oh and cat sleepy pills (I didn’t get the sleepy pills from dry fur, I got from it from the vet just FYI).  I know there is a lot of controversy out there about tranquilizing your pets for travel, but after talking to the vet we are deciding to likely give them a small dose tranquilizer.  This is stressful on a human, I can’t imagine what my two fur babies will feel.  Please no judgements…but lets face it I’m probably going to need a tranquilizer too (lol).

Well I’m almost done rambling.  All, I can say is that the goodbyes have started and the stress of this move is starting to sink in.  I’m actually quite proud of myself for not totally losing it at this point (cheers to me).  This will not be easy and goodbye is never fun, however, we will be back before I know it and this is the adventure of a lifetime.  None-the-less pass the craft beer because this might still suck…
